Shropshire Onion back onto the Gailey Cut

We decided that we’d move today so after going and gettin my bike books and the dog food from over the way at Keith Ball’s yard then Monarch doing what Monarch does blowing bubbles and getting stuck as its to shallow for her
Sayin goodbye to Jim off Hector who’d moored up behind us last night so nice to catch up with Jim he’s one of the nicest people that I know
It was chucking it down one minute and sun shining then blowing then raining again well we came through Brewood passing Cetus and Lynx the heavens opened again going through the beautiful Chillington Estate Simon saw a Kingfisher and I missed it
Under the motorway bridge someone had been having fun saying about Boaters that wear cowboy hats and raincoats looking ……… ………. I missed the end !! but I did catch where someone had been practising them roses and using the walls as a paint pad
Only seeing a few shopping trolleys and only one bike I was quite releaved

Coming up to cut end and the Authley deep lock
I jumped off Grimsby the wind got up and the rubbish bin took off and the rubbish went of like tumble weed we picked it up and to it into Naptons Reception on taking our rubbish to the point well you’ve never seen such a mess in all your life about 4ft deep in crap yet there was room in some of the bins
I managed to 1/2 drop my front rope into the lock and managed to fish out a rope fender rope shackle and brass fixing point off some fools boat coming back out of the Shropshire Onion onto the Gailey Cut went really well as the wind was blowing us round not long out of The cuttings we heard a boperty bop and it was Henry and Phylis on The Cactus well it made my day their smiling faces had a quick exchange of words and carried on our way onto to be met coming out of the next bridge hole by a modern tug boat called Raven the steeror told me he blew his hunting horn I did have a laugh with him where I told him with the wind there u would be lucky to hear anything and that any boat towing does have priority with my tongue in my cheek
This cut is fun as all the bridges seem to be on bends and totally blind as into the next bridge it was de jar vous and a boat called Gemini Mist who had a real chuckle about it with us and fun about old skool boating and big smiles so much nicer that some of the remarks that you come across nowadays.
A old boater made me laugh the other day as he told me that Rubbing Straights were exactly for that and accidents were exactly that accidents and why gloss where should be blacking yes I agreed and why leave fenders down to get ripped off in locks (as I had fished one out earlier) and to clatter round some of our Blades Monarch has had this happen a few times and I know Mike on Victoria had it last week

We get to the Fox and Anchor they both managed to get in to my surprise one happy me then to start cooking fish pie for Dinner and to listen to today’s episode of The Archers
